Reiki
"Just for today, I will let go of anger.
Just for today, I will let go of worry.
Today, I will count my many blessings.
Today, I will do my work honestly.
Today, I will be kind to every living creature."
-- Mikao Usui
“Rei” = Universal “ki” = life energy. Reiki (pronounced as ‘raykey’) is believed to have originated in Tibet thousands of years ago and current Reiki practice can be traced to the spiritual teachings of Mikao Usui in Japan during the early 20th century.
Reiki is a spiritual healing art, the practice of transmitting healing energy through the hands by means of touch to activate the natural healing processes of a client’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
We are all made up of energy. As Dr. Anodea Judith describes it, we are made up of hardware (body, skin, organs, blood, etc.) and software (emotions, memories, knowledge, etc.). What makes the hardware and software communicate? Energy.
Just as with cell phones we have the hardware (the physical phone) and software (data, photos, music, programs), but when the battery is dead they are not connected. Reiki can be used to aid the flow of energy through the body to promote physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
You can use Reiki as a wonderful complementary therapy in a personal wellness or healing program. Reiki is intended to be used to improve your own personal wellness – not just illness.
